Dogs love to be with their "pack". I have a crate in our bedroom that Ringo sleeps in during the night. The only noise I hear is sometimes him repositioning. Otherwise he is quiet all night. I'm sure he would prefer to sleep in our bed but there just isn't any room for another dog. My dog Cricket sleeps at our feet.
I put Ringo in a crate when I leave the home. I keep a crate in my laundry room for foster dogs. I always fill a kong with kibble and peanut butter. Have to say, he doesn't like to be in the crate when I leave. When I return, the blankets are all ruffled and turned around. My son was in the house once when I left and said it rattles it and gives our some whines and a few barks. When I return home, boy is he ready to come out and greet me. Sorry Ringo but all foster dogs go in the crate when I leave the house.
Update: I did leave him out in the house a couple of times when I did quick errands. All was well but this is something I just don't do with foster dogs. It took a year before I even left my dog out when I left. Now she is out all the time.
