I don't believe the story that was given why Ringo was surrendered.

The story was he kept getting out of the fenced in yard.  (I think the owner just did not want to give a dog love and affection.)

I don't have fenced in yard.  I have my dog trained on an electric fence.  We haven't used the collar for the fence in years.  She has just learned to stay in the yard.  I have never trained my foster dogs with the electric fence.  They just haven't been with me long enough.  I would want to have them for at least 6 months before I would even consider it.

With that being said, during these winter months I have my system.  I have a 30" training leash that I hook on and I let the foster dog out the sliding glass door of our dinette keeping an eye on them.  I have to hide behind the curtain when I let Ringo out.  If he sees me, he wants right back in.  When he is done with his business, he looks around a bit and then comes to the step and waits to be let in.  He doesn't even venture far off the patio.  The couple times he has followed us out the door without a leash, we just say Ringo and he is back at our legs.  I just can't see this dog running off.

Ringo is a dog that asks for affection.  He puts his paw on your hand/arm and will paw at you.  When you are done giving pets, all you have to do is say ah,ah when he puts his paw up again and he will stop.  He really wants to please you.
