Why I am suggesting no kids at this time.

Coby has been with be a week now.  He is always awesome with me and is my little buddy.  I thought I would describe the situations this week that make me suggest no kids at this time.  Please note, his world has been rocked, the people and living environment he is familiar with (good or bad) is gone.  Sometimes it just takes time.

My husband was on a business trip.  I was at work when he came home.  He attempted to let Coby out of his kennel and Coby growled and barked at him.  Later when I got home, I let him out.  Coby came into the living room area and took treats from Don but would not let him touch him.  This did not last long as the next evening when Don came home from work, he took treats, let him pet him and was even in this lap.  Now they are buddies.

Same with my teenage son.  Coby would walk around him without problems but would say, just don't touch me.  Now Tom can reach down and pet him.

Tom has a friend spend the night.  We slowly introduced Luke to Coby.  We had Luke give him treats and slowly give him pets.  In five minutes he was in Lukes lap.

Coby will do excellent in any home but I just am concerned with children's friends.  Children might come running up to him.  Adults and older kids are more in tune with the situation and know to give him time.

When out and about ie. trips to the vet, walks in neighborhood.  We stop and talk to people and approach people and stay 4 feet away.  I just tell them not to pet him.

His world has greatly expanded from living in a fenced in back yard.  Hopefully in time, he will not have this fear of strangers.  While he is adjusting, he needs an owner that will give him this time and be patient and respectful of this fear.
