A transport van from Alabama Rescue Relay (they are on facebook, LIKE them) left Alabama yesterday and drove straight through carrying precious cargo. I don't know how many dogs total but our rescue received a crate with three tiny puppies, a poodle, a black terrier and 6 more of the hoarder dogs we are taking in. I picked up the little care package and came home. They are sooo tiny. The buff male is the largest and the most outgoing. Zinia can keep up with him in play. Petunia is much smaller and likes to watch them. She plays too but not as rough. She is the little princess. They are all so sweet and followed me in my backyard like little ducklings. They love to be held too.
All had baths and a much needed nail trim. They have eaten and done their potty business and are now crashed. I will weigh them and post later.
THEIR STORY: This is what I heard, the parents of the pups were a poodle and maltese. They belonged to two residents at a senior apartment/assisted living and had an oops litter. When the female had the pups they kept them for 6 weeks and then handed them off. There was another black female that a rescuer adopted in Alabama. They were not in a shelter. We sure hate seeing pups leave the mom so young. My female dog will spend time with them and my next door neighbors dog so they will be socialized to other dogs. I have two teenage sons and lots of neighborhood kids that will hold them, play with them so again lots of socialization exposure. They will run outside in the grass and have sun on their backs. Stay tuned, I will be posting lots of pictures and video's in the coming days.
