Maggie's story........

Claire arrived in WI around the beginning of December.  We were not told she had had a litter of pups that were left behind.  Claire was adopted the beginning of January and about that time we were informed that she had had 6 pups that were 4 months old and could we take them.   I do not know what type of environment they lived in.  The only thing we were told is that she had the pups at the shelter.  All the pups were healthy and plump.  They run and play but when they arrived and we picked them up, they went stiff.  Our assumption is that just were not handled much as pups.  Thankfully, they are making wonderful progress with people.  At first when I would approach Maggie, she would run back in her crate.  24 hours later when she sees me,  she runs to greet me.  She still backs up when I reach our to her to pick her up but hey, it's only been 24 hours. She would shake when I first picked her up.  After a few minutes, she snuggled in and layed in my lap for 45minutes while I watched TV all comfy.  I don't think the pups had been outside before they arrived.  It is scary for them but I have a little harness on her and bring Cricket out with me and she wants to follow and run after Cricket.  We have started from square one with housetraining.  She has pottied outside two times today........we will get there in this area too.  I just wish we could have had the chance to get these pups sooner and work with them.  I don't know why they were held on to for so long.  We will get there,  just will take a little longer. If you are interested in Maggie,  she is available now but I just wanted to let you know where she is at.  I will update on her progress every few days.   Already, she is laying in Crickets doggie bed playing with toys.  (will have to video that)
