Housetraining, a work in progress.

Wish I could say it is going well but it certainly is a work in progress.  I checked on the other pups progress and it is the same for them.  It makes me think they were at the shelter in a kennel too long, who knows.

Maggie can "hold it" for two hours during the day, then I need to get her outside. Actually, I should really keep an eye on her at 1.5 hrs so I can catch her attempting but I get busy and sometimes there is an accident.   When we go outside, she goes right away and I say "GOOD GIRL" and give her a treat.  She know the saying good girl now as she comes running for the treat.  Not sure if she realizes it is for going potty yet.

At about 1hr 45min, I have been putting her in her crate (which she doesn't mind) and leaving her there for 45min.  We then go outside and she can be loose in the house again for about 1hr45min.

We go for walks after she eats so she will poop outside.

I have removed the playpen from my kitchen and am using a crate now so she will hold it.

The only time I don't do this is at night.  I have the crate door open in the laundry room and a puppy pad on the floor for her to use during the night.


She will get there, they always do.
