There are 6 puppies that arrived last evening from Alabama. We were told they were doxie/cockapoo mixes. (3 buff and 3 black). The other four are also in Hartland. They came directly from a home in Alabama. They did not go to a shelter. I do not know the circumstances of the home but the pups are healthy and have a good weight on them. The did arrive dirty and with fleas which is very common with new arrival rescue dogs. This will be taken care of today.
The pups were with the mother up until they were 8 weeks old which is so wonderful. Puppies have a lot to learn from the mother. Puppies should never leave the mother before 7 weeks old. The pups are healthy and not thin. They were scared when they arrived but I spend time rubbing them (which they loved) and feeding them yummy treats from my hand and now they are my buddies. Every time I go to their pen, they come over for some pets. They are eating well and playing with toys. Jitterbug is the the most confident/outgoing. They both have a long body and short legs. The pups will be neutered this week and should be ready for forever homes next week.
Stay tuned for pictures and videos in the coming days.
