Sophia has arrived.

I picked up Sophia from the Tailwaggin Doggie Daycare this evening. Lisa who owns the daycare will take dogs in for the rescue until a foster home is available for them. Lisa says she has been a model girl while staying with her. She is great with all the other dogs and playful. When I bring a new foster to my home, I always start with a walk with my dog Cricket. The two dogs greeted each other nicely and off we went. Like most of the rescue dogs we get, I don't think anyone ever took her walking. I always use the Gentle Leader EasyWalk Harness by Premier and she really didn't pull too much. She stayed near my legs but kept weaving from side to side and into my legs. She would come to a dead stop if something interested her. First she saw some young kids playing then another dog in its yard. She didn't bark or growl, just stood still and watched. I found if I walked faster she had to focus on me and didn't stop as much. Don't worry forever family, we walk every day and she will have it down in no time. I especially liked she wasn't pulling to go her own way, she was focused on me when I asked her to. When I put her video on petfinder, the beginning (the best of her) was cut off so I hope to get a couple of new video one for the blog and a new one for petfinder tomorrow. Until then, she is settling in nicely and I will update more tomorrow.
