More on Honey.
I first want to say, she has only been with me a couple of days. It is amazing what progress a rescue dog can make in a week. Honey is very gentle and attentive. She is also patient. She waits for me to put the leash on. When I call her excitedly she comes. I have not heard a bark from her but when I am busy and put her in the gated laundry room, she will sometimes softly whine for a bit. She sat on my husbands lap for about 30 minutes as he pet her tonight. She also jumped up in my lap for some pets. She has not had an accident but I have set her up for success by taking her outside every 3 hours during the day. I usually extend this the longer a rescue dog is here. She sleeps in the gated laundry room from 10pm to 6:30am without accidents or making a noise. I would call her a pretty calm girl in the home with a medium energy level. She wanders around the house but does not run/dash/jump. I did take her on a 20 minute walk with my dog. Her tail was down a bit and when a car went by she would stop and take a few steps backwards and put her tail between her legs but other than that did fine. The only behavior that might concern someone is when there is a loud noise she will cower and take a few steps backwards. She does recover quickly. I noticed she also did this when I lifted a ball throwing wand to throw a ball for my dog. Again, she recovered right away and was fine. I do not know if with time, as she gets to know me or anyone for that matter, this will get better. I would think as she gains confidence in her home and people it should. She is a dog that needs only positive training techniques. Never scolding for anything. She wants to please you and be with you. All you have to do is show her the way:)
