Seven dogs arrived yesterday after two long days of travel from Alabama. The day was sunny and beautiful. I picked up Charlie on the way to meet the transport and he joined the transport and headed north to foster mom Peggy. Charlie had arrived two weeks ago but had to stay in the Milwaukee area so he could be neutered. He is now with the other yorkie Gremlin at Peggy's.
Gizmo, the Havenese went right to her foster mom. We had been told she was shy but didn't see it at all. She was very friendly and I hear is doing well.
Chester went to a foster home that also has Mitzie. What a little doll. So cuddly. He puts his muzzle right into your neck. He is our three legged boy. He had been hit by a car and taken to the shelter to be euthanized. A rescue worker stepped in and payed for the surgery to have his leg amputated. It has been a month since his surgery and he gets around great.
Frisbee was quite the player. Energetic but settled nicely when you wanted to do something with him ie. put on a nice new collar. He is now with a new Fluffy Dog foster.
Tom and Jerry are waiting for foster homes. They were rescued from a home with way too many dogs. They were so friendly and cooperative. They will make someone great pets and so deserve some TLC. Their fur is a mess showing neglect (poor diet and fleas) They will probably need to be shaved but will be good as new very soon. I do have to mention, they are not thin. So often these dogs come in so thin so good for that.
Lonnie looks like a shih or llasa mix. She isn't much bigger than Tom and Jerry. Her coat is more coarse. She was in great shape and has a friendly outgoing personality. We are also looking for a foster home for her.
Last, mama Arion arrived. She is young and this is her first pregnancy. She is shy and didn't want to walk on leash to my car so I carried her. Amazingly, after a couple of hours last evening her tail was up wagging, she was staying close for pets and following us around. She is on her way. Such a calm, gentle girl. She will make someone a wonderful companion. First, though, she needs to have those puppies. It will be several weeks.
The rescue has a few adoptions pending so hopefully these dogs will be in foster homes within the week. We do need more foster homes, if you would like more information on fostering, see the link on the Fluffy Dog Rescue home page for our contact person. Any of the dogs here in need of fostering would be great dogs for the first time foster home.
