Baxter's first few days with us.
I mentioned in the prior post, Baxter's life has really been turned around. While he was living at the doggie boarding facility, he was adored by all. Such a nice gentle boy. Well, time to more on to a home.......mine. The first day here, he did a lot of pacing, just could not relax. Poor boy has been so many places. Each day here has been progress. He follows me around the home but is not a pest. A few pets and he is content. Now that he is getting so much more attention, he rarely jumps up for pets. He enjoys laying on the doggie bed or next to the couch or chair when we are in the family room. He happily greeted my teenage son and husband when they came in the door yesterday. Today for the first time, he came up on the couch and curled up by my feet with his head rested on my legs.......oh is he ever soft. He sleeps in a crate at night and other then a few barks when first put in, he is quiet all night. His biggest hurdle is still his cautiousness. He jumps at every quick move or sound. Thankfully, he gets over it fast and does not cower or hide. He is just very alert to it. My hope is as his comfort grows, this will subside. As far as kids, younger ones with their quick moves may scare him currently, he will be kind with them but they may not enjoy him at this time. We just adore him, he is so loving and loves attention and reassurance. He is very easy to have around in the home.
