Here he is!!!!!!!!!! (Day 3)

His groom reminded me of the shear of a lamb.  And now he is so so soft.

I took Coby for a walk today for the first time.  I used a Easy Walk Harness.  The leash attaches at the chest with this harness and it discourages pulling.  He did really well with it.  We walked for about 20 minutes around my neighborhood.  He met another dog and was great.  He watched a person garden and was fine.  He did bark a few times at a jogger with a dog.  No cars passed by so I can't comment on that.

Being not neutered, Coby loves to "mark".  This should reduce after his neuter and his hormones leave his body.  The surrender paper work said he was housebroken.  He will need work in this area but I already see progress. He marked my laundry room the first evening and none since.  His crate is always clean.  I have him in my home today and he did try twice.  I corrected him with an ah ah.  I also have a "belly band" on him during the training so he does not soil my home.

Since he is not vaccinated, I can not be introducing him to strangers.  I have mentioned before how stressful rehoming a dog can be for them.  When meeting strange dogs I know to not approach them head on.  Approach them slowly from the side and don't look them in the eyes.  He has been wonderful with me from the first time we met and follows me around everywhere.  When Kate first met him he let out a low bark.  Within a couple of minutes, he was fine.   It is good when they give you a warning.  They are communicating to you, I am afraid of you.  Never correct a warning from a dog. Kate sat on the floor and he came to her for rubs.  In time, I will update with how he is doing with other strangers.  Like I said, great with me.
