Coby meet Lori (the director of the rescue)
I needed to stop at Lori's house today to pick up a heartworm pill for Coby. Since Lori hadn't met him yet, I thought I would bring him along. He rode great in the car and loved meeting her dog Bailey. Lori knows how to greet new dogs. I entered her home with Coby on leash. She did not look at him or face him directly. We just chatted for about 10 minutes. He was just fine. (looking a dog directly in the eyes or facing them directly can be seen by the dog as threatening) Lori then slowly crouched down and gave him a treat. She let him wander around her and smell her. She then slowly pet him. In a few minutes he was asking her for more pets. This is how all strange dogs should be greeted. It is respectful of them. Some respond right away, others take longer to warm up to the stranger. You could tell he was unsure but I was so proud of him.
